This poem is meant to inspire and empower you, yet it is holding an important understanding and teaching -that we are unbroken!
Of course that may seem contradictory as many of us have lived through the difficulties of healing after sexual abuse, and that pain is real. Yet the essence of who we are remains untouched. Through carefully crafted practices we can regain agency, and thus we come to the realization that we still hold the power.
For the truth is our body is ours, it always was, and our body can open again.
WOMAN, WHAT IF YOU ARE UN- BROKEN?
Dear woman,
This is to you, who have experienced sexual assault.
An unwelcome hand on your body.
To you, whose body wasn’t ready for him.
Didn’t get enough time.
This is to you that felt that you needed to provide
to keep the marriage happy.
And for any woman that had to split between her sexuality and love,
caught in an endless cycle of trying to fit in.
◈
And now, years passed by.
You might believe that you lost your passion.
You feel shut down.
Maybe even frozen.
You don’t want to make love, or when you do you
don’t feel much at all.
That silent voice tells you that,
Maybe, something is wrong with you.
◈
Dear woman, you are not broken.
What if “I cant” really is “I won’t”?
What if there is a “no” akin to be heard
from the depth of your being.
Come explore with me..
Listen…
She is moving through the shadowlands.
The rugged domain of our subconscious.
If you descend a little deeper
Can you sense her?
Her warm animal body?
Can you sense her wild beautiful mind,
Her strong hands..
and sharp teeth?
Breathe life into her..
◈
Welcome her to the table.
Light the candles.
Let her dine with you.
She is intelligent, the way nature is.
Living on the border
between the known and the unknown.
◈
Give her a voice
Let her “No” echo over the chasm of humanity
Let her rage be heard
Call it holy.
Call it the best incarnation you have ever known.
For her fire will make space
For your passion to grow
Like the edges of the Nile at Spring’s overflow
◈
Yes and No are intertwined
Like the serpent’s spiral dance
Craft together your life
With both hands
Claim your “No”
and your “Yes” will emerge.
Deny one, and you deny the other.
◈
Dear woman, you don’t need healing
You have been denied the wilderness in you.
◈
Dear Sister, never stop
Until your breath breathes ecstasy.
Until you laugh so deep, your eyes cry
Making love with your whole body
Turned towards existence
Every fiber and every cell
Knows this.
◈
But from now and forever forward
I tell you this;
Craft your life with both hands
Let your desire be born out of this
She asks that from you
Or she will move back to the hidden lands
Growling, hissing and biting you
from shadows behind.
